    DRONE-A-RAMA
The Drone-A-Rama, or DAR, shows are held bi-annually offering members an opportunity to get together as a whole club, unlike the informal local meets, in a relaxed atmosphere that enourages the involvement of partners and younger family members.
DAR is however more than just a model show, although this is obviously the core of the event giving members the chance to display their latest work, with the emphasis beeing on fun. The weekends take in auctions, raffles, displays, dealer tables, quizes, workshops, challenges, visits to appropriate attractions, and social events.

SATURDAY NIGHT QUIZ
As a way of raising some more funds for the DEBRA charity Dave Daines supplied the Saturday night entertainment quiz. We had been pre-warned that Lord of the Rings would be the theme, with some nice prizes to be had.
In the first half of the quiz we were bombarded with a selection of general knowledge questions from Sci-Fi to football, including one of my favourite subjects - a Wookies anatomy. But no one believed my argument about Chewie 'chedders.' But the second half was devoted solely to The Lord of the Rings.
The results of the quiz held no relation to who would win (you had to be there), and this had the nice effect of keeping it light hearted. When the quiz was over Kayleigh won the LOTR book, Daniel the LOTR bust and John Ludlam the helmet.

DEATH RACE 2005
Organised by Eric Moore with Dave Trelfer, this years race promised to be more competitive then ever before as a lovely piece of exclusive artwork had been donated to the club by 2000AD artist Rufus Dayglo.
11 crazy competitors competed in 11 rounds of 5 laps each, with those having the most wins going forward to the final stage. The final winner: Jason Andrews.

ROLE PLAY
This year...Mad Dog had gone for a scale of 54mm.
To hold a battle, you need terrain. The challenge was to build it from assorted junk before playing it. Over the next two hours a select group architected and constructed a master piece. Informed commentators have described the edifice as a "materful statement of posthangover, apocalyptic liebensraum."
The hastily cobbled together senario was an attack by the forces of darkness to capture the large tank of 'stuff' at the top of the Tricon. Battle raged fora couple of hours. As time was being called, the forces of darkness pressed the advantage and stormed the tank, thereby becoming the winners.

SUPER CHALLENGE

The super challenge had been hinted at in various dispatches from HQ throughout the past year, and finally those victims who had agreed to enter would be given the low down.
Entrants were presented with a kit box - either a Toybiz superhero or Polar Lights Kiss figure. On opening the box, there was a figure, a different base, plus extra bits - spare arms, hands, skulls and mechanical parts. A communal bag of spare parts was also available.
The challenge was to create a superhero, along with a personal history for the new creation.
All told the challenge took six hours, with Jason Andrews emerging as the overall winner with the Mincinator.
