    DRONE-A-RAMA
The Drone-A-Rama, or DAR, shows are held bi-annually offering members an opportunity to get together as a whole club, unlike the informal local meets, in a relaxed atmosphere that enourages the involvement of partners and younger family members.
DAR is however more than just a model show, although this is obviously the core of the event giving members the chance to display their latest work, with the emphasis beeing on fun. The weekends take in auctions, raffles, displays, dealer tables, quizes, workshops, challenges, visits to appropriate attractions, and social events.

WEEKEND ACTIVITIES
Along with the Sunday afternoon Death Race (see below), a host of other activities were scheduled to be held over the weekend.

SATURDAY ROLE PLAY
On Saturday the kids were given a chance to play and show off their skills on the Role Play board. Everything was going well until, as reported, someone blew out all the doors on the imaginary space ship and everyone drifted out into space. Andrew has since been rocommended to Michael Caine for the next re-make of the Italian Job.

The Role play got off to a shaky start after many of the players were sucked out of the windows thanks to Andrew Joyce and a somewhat ill advised move!

SATURDAY NIGHT QUIZ
A kind of board game with a modelling theme in which three teams competed against each other for...well nothing really...anyway the ladies beat the singles and the husbands hands down, coming out clear as having won the most money.

Saturday night fun that even the kids can enjoy.

...athough some of the kids are bigger than others.

DRESSED HAT
Saturday night ended with a bit more fun, when the dressed hats were doned. Each hat was decorated, either abstractly or criptically, with something that related to a film or TV show or personality.
It was up to those present to guess the answer.

SUNDAY NIGHT QUIZ
This went on for a looonnnnnng time, but credit where it is due the quiz masters stepped in at the last moment when the original organizer was unable to attend.
A mixure of music, movie, and TV questions boiled together with some picture rounds and some general knowledge made for an entertaining evening. A good way to relax and start the unwelcome wind down after what had been an excellent weekend.

MONDAY
The job clearing the rooms started in earnest, but with little enthusiasm. Those still present seem reluctant to leave, and willingly sat around have thos last minute chats that they had missed over the previous two days.
To round it off an impromtu visit was made to the Games Workshop factory, where there was a tour of the games room, the museum, the shop and a quick stop off to grab a bit to eat in the cafe.

DEATH RACE 2003
Ever got 'cut up' on your travels and thought how nice it would be if you were Mad Max? Well this was every daddyio's chance to get their own back.
A new event at DAR 2003 was 'Death Race 4.'

Come the Sunday there was the FTVMC equivalent of a post-apocalypse road to hell or, to put it plainer, a scalexteric track set up. The challenge was to obtain a Scalextric car, convert it and race it, simple as that.

DEMONSTRATIONS

A number of demonstrations were held over the weekend, on a kind of watch and learn format.

Spike used his considerable talents to good effect in the prothetics-make up field, showing how it was possible to simulate the'vampire' effect seen in popular shows such as Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
