DRONE-A-RAMA |
 |
The Drone-A-Rama, or DAR, shows are held bi-annually offering members an opportunity to get together as a whole club, unlike the informal local meets, in a relaxed atmosphere that enourages the involvement of partners and younger family members. DAR is however more than just a model show, although this is obviously the core of the event giving members the chance to display their latest work, with the emphasis beeing on fun. The weekends take in auctions, raffles, displays, dealer tables, quizes, workshops, challenges, visits to appropriate attractions, and social events.

DAR 2007 |
 |
|
Well there you have it, or have had it, the forth FTvMC DAR show has come and gone. Held over the weekend of ++++++ in Nottingham, attendees were treated to three days of challenges, graveyards, quizes and a surprise meal courtesy of Allan Smith (thumbs up Allan), raffles and an auction. A very special auction was also held in aid of DeBRA on the Sunday night with the lots being donated by members, Dragonwhyche models and many well known British comic artists. Sunday night was also our Birthday meal to celebrate our 15th year, a considerable achievement in a hobby that has seen its ups and downs.
Once again DAR can boast of being the UK's largest show devoted entirely to Sci-Fi,
Horror and Fantasy figure and hardware modelling, with the show itself attracting over 230 enteries.
But all things being equal it is more than just a model show it is also the opportunity to swap
tips, meet and get to know fellow modellers, watch demonstrations, pick up some
bargains, have generally have a good. For anyone bitten by the modelling bug it was the ideal weekend.
